Hearing Loss and Tinnitus Ratings
Tinnitus (ringing in the ears) is the most commonly claimed VA disability, rated at 10% as a single disability (or 0% if bilateral). Hearing loss is rated under Diagnostic Code 6100 using speech recognition and pure tone average thresholds from a controlled audiological exam.
Veterans are frequently underrated for hearing loss because the C&P exam audiological testing was performed in an improper environment, or because a private audiologist’s more thorough findings were not submitted to the VA.
