Burn Pit Exposure Under the PACT Act

Veterans who served in Southwest Asia, Afghanistan, or other designated locations after August 2, 1990 are now presumed to have been exposed to toxic substances from open burn pits. The PACT Act added more than 20 presumptive conditions including cancers of the respiratory system, head and neck, reproductive system, and gastrointestinal system.

If you were previously denied for a burn pit or toxic exposure condition, the PACT Act allows you to refile as a Supplemental Claim without losing your original effective date if filed within the proper deadline.
